my sis asked if i could make decorated cookies for children's day. of course i can! what i didn't expect was that some of the kids would have super long names lor. -_- anyways, managed to fulfil the order. was packaged in clear plastic, with a pretty patterned paper tab. didn't manage to take a pic of the packaged cookies but here they are decorated before packaging.

SIL's engagement
was pretty busy the past few weeks with my SIL's engagement. ended up doing her berkat for her, choc chip cookies, and a dulang for the guy's side.
this berkat has 4 big choc chip cookies, packaged in plastic then placed in a white box and tied with gold ribbon.
this is a giant heart shaped brownie with royal icing frosting. no idea what it tastes like, first time making a brownie!

attempt at an ombre cake
i was looking around on all the baking blogs out there and the ombre cakes caught my eye. naturally, i had to try it out! good thing my neighbour was getting married so i had an excuse to whip it up as a gift. haha. this is a 6 inch vanilla cake with a 3 inch tier, layered with nutella and frosted with buttercream. i hope it's as yummy as it sounds, didn't get to taste!

for the office raya gathering
okie, so i didn't manage to make 3 different types of cupcakes as planned :( the bananas i wanted to use for 1 of the recipes went bad and i had to scrap that. nevertheless, managed to make my standard vanilla cupcakes (since so many people like them) and also choc cakeballs with choc cream cheese! yes, they are as decadent as they sound!
standard cupcake, $30 for a box of 16
choc cakeballs, price and packaging TBA
just hope that the latter goes down well, it's untested haha
and i do declare, i freaking LOVE my Wilton 1M tip!!

Busy end to the week!
soooo excited! having a raya potluck thingy at work on fri, and will
be baking/ cooking up a storm for it! planning on making macaroni
goreng for a bit of savouryness... and then 3 types of cupcakes :p
will probably be the standard vanilla with buttercream frosting, choc
with choc fudge frosting, and trying something new, will be a
surprise!

neighbour will also be getting married this sun and hubby asked if i
could make him a cake since they're good friends... this might just be
my wedding dulang debut! hahaha. keeping fingers crossed that
everything will work out well, seeing how my attempt at a choc cake
totally bombed last weekend. been seeing some eally pretty layered
cakes in graduated colours, hope i can pull one off!

C is for cookies...
cookies are also the easiest thing for me to post about right now since there are so few of them. haha.
was baking up a storm during the fasting month, making choc chip cookies and cornflake macaroons for friends and family.. still got a ton of egg whites leftover, will probably attempt to make meringues, royal icing and the like. *fingers crossed*
ok so these were the first decorated sugar cookies that i made en masse, with the help of family members. packed them in sets of 2 for my daughter's cukur rambut...
these are chewy choc chip cookies. they were chocolatey and chewy enough i guess, but there was something missing... not quite sure what, but they didn't taste as good as they looked :p
these are cookies made from my go-to cookie recipe. choc chip cookies, cinnamon chip cookies and double choc cookies. so goooood! raya version was made from the same recipe, but bite sized.
packaged the cookies in sets of 3 for a charity donation drive that a friend's company was organising. heard they sold for $5 per packet 0_o
so there we go, the first pics of hopefully many more!

First Up
hey hey!
welcome to my blog :) i consider this the first step to me having my own desserts store in, let's say, 3 years time?? either that or i will bake full time from home...
a short intro:
happily married and working mum of one, love baking in my free time and realised i was getting pretty good at it. my first attempts were yummy but ugly and i had a hard time getting people to eat them. later on i improved on the aesthetics and, voila, more tasters than i could handle! i'm always on the lookout for that perfect recipe(s), and am constantly trying to improve my presentation skills. can't cook savory local food to save my life though. haha.
really want to spend more time with my baby girl and hubby, and the only way i can do that is if i get to the point where i can quit my full time job and work from home or start my own business. also, there is no point starting your own gig unless you really love it, no? i really love baking and creating these little pieces of edible art! thus, this blog was born.
what can i make? at the moment... not much. haha. just a couple of raya kuihs, cupcakes, butter cakes, cheesecakes and cookies. i'm hoping to add breads as well as savory and sweet pastries to the mix eventually.
anyways, apologies in advance for the bad quality of photos in the beginning. i promise i will try harder to use my dslr and take better, more inspiring shots of the stuff that comes out of my oven.
ok, let the baking continue and blogging begin!
